$2.99 Gal
    #6018235 - 09/01/06 11:43 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

How is it that gass prices went down around here by 60 cents in just three weeks just in time for the holiday weekend?

If theirs no way of controlling the rising gass prices then who was it who convinced the oil execs to lower prices sooooo much?

OOh well, Ive waited all week to fill up and Im going to go get the cheepest tank Ive had all year.

Oooh and why $2.99?  Seems like a slap in the face gesture too me.

I think that all aspects of the oil industry should not be privatized. There shouldn't be a profit to be had with a source of energy.

Perhaps the oil from Iraq is finally starting to get here. Also, gas prices always tend to go up during the summer and down during the fall and winter.

Yes, it does seem a bit early. I don't know wtf is going on. Maybe the oil companies are cutting back prices temporarily for the election in order to increase support for Republicans and discourage people from supporting alternative energy.

I've been wondering about this drop is prices too. We're down as low as $2.69 around here. From a high of $3.30. And just in time for labor day. Does anyone know the official reason? Not that Im complaining or anything. Its sweet!

True, but I just think you shouldn't learn them all quite so fast! You have an entire lifetime ahead of you, take a stroll, create a device that harvests free energy, plan a dinner. You know, relax.

It won't be long and you'll have it so that this thread, regarding the price of gasoline, will be entirely irrelevant.

Will you post in P&S about your whole experience, reflections relating to, etc.?

Hmmm. interesting all around.

what if the gas prices are only going down temporarially for this weekend, when the government has planned a terrorist action to take place, and then has an excuse to shoot them back up, and get every one in america pissed at the terrorists again!

I'm not sure exactly what is going on, but I think it is obvious that the oil industry, whether the companies themselves, or simply just the convience store owners (the oil companies pretty much own them anymore, though, eh?) frequently fuck with the prices just for the hell of it.

I remember, back with 9/11, that day convience stores in Chicago raised gas prices to $4 a gallon, crazy, unjustified shit like that...

Like I already stated, it should all be government and/or public owned.

If I understand correctly, we can blame Jimmy Carter for deregulation of the oil industry, and he is a guy that I always thought was cool. :wtf:
