strange looking myc? *newbie* (lots of pics)

Hi. I'm new. My friend wanted to try growing. He used some drinking glass because he couldn't find a jar. The glass holds is about 400 ml, which is almost twice as big as a standard 1/2 pint jar. I don't know if this is going to be a problem. The substrate is grinded brown rice (using blender for 20 mins) and vermiculite which is supposedly the standard BRF. The mixture is proportionally correct. The strain is B+. The jar was inoculated 7 days ago. Mycelium started forming after 4 days. Here's what it looks now from 4 sides (inoculation points). Only 1 side looks normal... like the pictures I've seen around the web. Other sides look strange. Anyone know what's up?

Side 1
- This one looks strange. No lines and doesn't look white-- sort of grey. No lines at all.

Side 2
- This looks strange, too, although looks better than the first.

Side 3
- This one looks normal as far as color and lines go.

Side 4
- Weirdest one, yet. Lots of circles formed next to each other.

Those are all fine. You won't always have the thick ropey growth.
