I was just reading about Pharmako/Gnosis last night...care to share a few words about it? I'm also curious about What is the What - I was underwhelmed by his other book, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

"Just a Couple of Days" by Tony Vigorito. Excellent so far.
I just finished "VALIS" by Philip K. Dick not long ago. That book will mess with you.

What is the What is good, i think, though I never read his other book. It is fiction/biography, relating the story of a sudanese man's flight from civil war.

Pharmako Gnosis is essentially a book of one man's trip reports. It is poetic, though the poetry deals with that drug-induced realm and thus is not very engaging (i like simple, solid stuff). The art is well chosen and beautiful, and he does give us some history of usage and interesting anecdotes. Also, novel insights. Altogther the book is profound yet mundane. I like it.

Nichomacean Ethics - Aristotle (boooo to college philosophy. Not that the book doesn't get you thinking, but damn it's a HARD read.)

I'm reading two books at once this time

Doors of Perception by Aldus Huxley
Beloved by Toni Morrison

Both are pretty average

hehe, you should be able to finish Doors of Perception in one sitting.

I just started "A Long White Con" by Iceberg Slim

written by a real life pimp.

Brewmaster: Well, the mescaline will still be in there, but I'd be afraid of it conjealing and trying to escape after it grew in size from eating all the other shit in my fridge, and possibly my dogs if it got out.

Pithlit: sentient drugs, now that is an idea ...

OneMoreRobot: Idea? It's a fuckin' reality. You know Salvia? Nigga stole my TV.

i've finally started on a book that's been on my "to read" list for like 7 years...

"Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn

I abandoned a boook called "Trance" due to absolute boredom... wayyyy too many characters and seemingly extra-plot lines for my liking.  Who knows, maybe they aren't extra.. but it was too much to keep my attention past the middle of the book.

yos-

I'm with you. I thought it was a short little read that I'd finish in a day or two.

still haven't.... I didn't say it was good; just that I was reading it.:smirk:
