I thought I already posted in this thread, but I'm reading three books right now:
(1) Plants of the Gods (2) How Brains Make Up Their Minds (3) The Biochemical Basis of Neuropharmacology
I lost my love of fiction years ago. I hope to get it back some day.

Yeah, that was pretty good.
They are all hilarious IMO. I especially like in "Me Talk Pretty One Day" when he writes about his adventures in France. That French teacher was a fuckin' bitch!!!

CerebralFlower, a friend of mine owns a fair trade clothing store that is next door to an excellent bookstore. I always go to the bookstore and find great books in mint condition there. I found that book for about $10.

I found a book called _Aspects of Psychopharmacology_ which was pretty good. It wasn't chemistry heavy, so it was nice to get a different perspective.
Is _Catch 22_ any good? I've got it sitting on my shelves, waiting to be read. I really like James Jones's WWII trilogy: _From Here to Eternity_, _The Thin Red Line_ and _Whistle_. I know I said I lost my love of fiction, but _From Here to Eternity_ is by far my favourite fiction book. It's (the whole trilogy is) a fictionalized account of the author's experiences in the US Army during WWII. Most of _From Here to Eternity_ has 'no plot' and basically just illustrates the lives of soldiers before Pearl Harbour. It follows them around to the whore houses and getting drunk and all that for about 700 or 800 pages, but the characters are great. _The Thin Red Line_ was also an excellent book and despite what people say, I do think that the 1998 film is an "accurate translation" of the book. A lot of people criticized that film because they felt that the director was 'preaching' to them through the characters, telling them what to think, but if you pay close attention, that's not true. The characters offer contradictory points-of-view and philosophies on life, death, war, etc. The film and the book are more about HOW people respond to combat and what they think, rather than spewing out the director's thoughts.
I'm a bit of a book whore and I have about 100 books on my shelves waiting to be read.
Other books I've really enjoyed and read recently:
_The Blank Slate (The Modern Denial of Human Nature)_ By Steven Pinker _The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich_ by William L Shirer _The Great Shark Hunt_ by Hunter S. Thompson

Yea Catch 22 is a good book. Much better than the movie, but the movie is worth seeing anyways. I'll sit through or read almost anything once just for the experience.

"DEATHNOTE" graphic novel series - this really awesome story about a notebook dropped from another realm where the owner can wwrite anyone's name in it and they will die. an amazing plot is wound around this one almost cheesey little idea, most of the story is about people trying to logically outwit each other for powergrabs. The illustrationsss are also beautiful. I highly recomend it, I am dying for the next issue which wont be out for 2 freakin months!
hrmm what else I just finished the Dragonlance "Twins" trilogy, Time, War, Test of the Twins. It's a fantasy series, kind of an immature adventure writing style, but the whole war between the brothers is actually really interesting and suspenseful, basically the good warrior brother trying to save his evil magic using brother, by chasing him through time and into hell.
I'm trying to read Illuminatus Trilogy but hasnt really grabbed my attention.
Just finished 'A Seperate Reality' but Castenada, very entertaining and thought-provoking

I started Entheogens and the Future of Religion in the past couple of days and so far it's fantastic.
