Well, I got about three hundred pages in and just couldn't do it anymore. Around page 200 I thought it was getting better and then it didn't. It's one of the weirdest books I've ever come across, and not in a very charming way, like Moby Dick, say. And extremely difficult to read, the guy just doesn't believe in the period "." so you get these insanely long and convoluted sentences. Don't get me wrong, the writing is very good, it's just needlessly difficult and sometimes unclear.
And some of his scientific ideas are just bonkers.
So I'm opting for some lighter fare: Final Option (A Novel of the Oregon Files) by Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison. I don't expect I'll run up against the same issues.

Just finished the final book of The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin, and wow - it was an amazing series! Easily one of my favourite series of all time!
Next to start will be Dancer's Lament (Book 1 of Path to Ascendancy) by Ian C. Esslemont. This is a companion series (prequel) to the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. I hear good things, so I am very excited!

Positively gorgeous. Great writing, great story. Nabokov was a master, and is one of my very favorite authors.
