how is F+L 72? One of the few things I haven't read by him, been meaning to cop myself a copy though. I used to think much more highly of him but recently I re-read one of those books of his letters and honestly the guy just was a ranting lunatic 85% of the time. Either way, he might have some interesting commentary in that book.
Currently reading Atlas Shrugged. It's a fucking commitment, but it's great so far.

Majority has been very good actually! There are parts which tend to drag here and there and as usual you get Hunter's unique approach to American politics in all his boundless lunacy. And of course it also comes with your typical dose of psychedelic drugs

jackSpearows said: psychology of the unconscious by Jung. Haven't read THAT many books but still I haven't read anything quite like this. Has hooked me up with a few "filters of understanding" that are new to me. I am about 190 pages in and basically, from what I can tell, the message is that human culture and creativity technology etc develops as an extension of the base sexual libido. The libido is repressed sexually and is then transferred into non sexual areas of involvement like technology, culture. So I feel like his main premise is that the energy and drive of sex/reproduction is the main energetic source for us and from which every thing else is driven..
If you've read it and understood it then by the love of god let me hear what you think
it's relevant.

I just finished this over the weekend and highly recommend it. It delves into some very interesting and concerning topics about mysticism/spirituality, very applicable information.
I began 'Fever Pitch' by Nick Hornby for an enjoyment read.
And then 'This is your Brain on Music' by Daniel Levitin, which is already thoroughly intriguing 50 pages in.

coincidentally, the new terry gilliam film looks like it borrows heavily from transmetro's look. check out the trailer here.

I'm already vegetarian, but I could see how that essay would make someone think if either they didn't know about the horrible stuff that goes on in factory farms or they never thought about the moral aspects of meat eating. I thought it was a really good essay.
My favorite essays in the book were probably Up, Simba, The Host and the usage one. Overall I still like A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again more. The title essay, the fair one and the David Lynch one are all really great.
I just started Where I'm Calling From by Raymond Carver.

Me and my sister own them all between us (it has been a fun and interesting topic to converse with each other for the past 10 years), so I have read all but the couple newest ones. Survivor, Rant, and Invisible monsters are in the top of my list.
