I didn't really get much out of 'How to Meditate'.
I just bought this book! I am slacking on starting it though since crime and punishment was so difficult for me.
Ok, I just have to say The Idiot is one of my favorites and I read it before I gave Crime and Punishment a shot, and much much easier to read because I still haven't gotten through the first 30 pages of crime and punishment.
I love you mofos for reading this book!!
I'm currently reading Slaughterhouse-5 by Kurt Vonnegut, anyone care to discuss this one?
Ps. Let me know how the Idiot goes for you, feel free to pm me about anything Dostoevsky or literature related, I love talking about this stuff. The main concept Mishkin revolves around is frightening and fascinating and crucial and somewhat revolutionary in weight, and at the same time the way Dostoevsky weaves in all the different personalities through such realistic portrayals and dialogue keeps it a page turner.

How is The Wisdom of Insecurity so far? Is it influencing any of your paradigm at all? Do you feel anything towards it?

Like a lot of Alan Watts, it's deeply inspired, by about 40-45% full of nonsense and talking in circles. Some real gems, though, and a quick read. I tend to re-read it once or twice a year.

Finished reading The Circuit by Bob Shepherd, a great insight into the international security circuit, didn't read at all like it was blown out of proportion or overly emphasising his own ability like some personal accounts I've written.
Now reading Wildmind - A step by step guide to meditation by Bodhipaksa which arrived in the post today. Hoping it can help me as I've only just started meditating so want to make sure I'm going in the right direction
