You Must Set Forth At Dawn by Wole Soyinka
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I'm reading
Shakey - Jimmy McDonough
and I just finished a Cash biography approved near the end of his life... it really focuses on his religious background... i say i finished it, i really just quit reading it because it was going into agonizing detail about his different religious periods and i just skipped to the american recordings part
I ve noticed er'abody's reading PHiKAL... what kind of a chemistry background do you have to have to really understand that?

I'm still reading Herman Kahnciousness - but I decided to take a halftime break so I could reread The Dream Hunters by Neil Gaiman. It is a part (though outside the timeline) of his Sandman comics series, but is written in prose and presented like a fairytale book. Amazing illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano.

Jitterbug Perfume - Tom Robbins
It's blowing my mind. written beautifully, with lots of commentary about how humans abandoned paganism and their natural ways... i'm only 1/2 done.

The Ruins by Scott Smith
Just picked it up from the store on my lunch break...looked interesting. (horror) Its been awesome so far!
Just finished the Picture of Dorian Gray. Hands down, one of my favorite books I've ever read. I dare anyone to read the first couple pages and put it back down. It offered so much (and confirmed) my world view.

Dorain Gray confirmed your world view? Id love to hear your world view then. Honestly that book kind of annoyed me in parts, I realize the main character and his friend are supposed to be sarcastic portrayals of full of themselves rich socialites, but even still, Oscar Wildes 'art for art's sake' thing, I wonder how serious some of their conversations were and how much he actually thought was true. As if he was serious, then he might be one of the most annoying guys Ive ever read.

I've always wanted to read a book by Lilly, love that guy!
Currently I'm reading Ketamine: Dreams and Realities, has a chapter on John Lilly and his ketamine usage.

yeah he used a lot of ketamine during his experiments in the tank, which is really one of his more significant studies.
if you're looking for a good read i would recommend Simulations of God. it's a fabulous work by him that describes the nature of various human belief systems.

if your interested, I have a link bookmarked somewhere that has the email of someone who knows people all around the world with deprivation takes who are willing to let anyone in. totally forgot about that, one thing I definitely do not wanna miss out on in this life is experiencing a deprivation tank loaded on entheogens.
