Hannibal Rising by Thomis Harris. Its the first book I'm reading by him. He writes very cinematicly. Its a really easy reading and I'm enjoying it very much. My aunt keeps tossing me random books she reads so my reading has become quite diverse. (which is a good thing)

I love Micheal Crichton. Jurassic park and the lost world were both amazing books. Congo was also a very good read. His books are really believable.

The Ruins by Scott Smith
Just picked it up from the store on my lunch break...looked interesting. (horror) Its been awesome so far!
Just finished the Picture of Dorian Gray. Hands down, one of my favorite books I've ever read. I dare anyone to read the first couple pages and put it back down. It offered so much (and confirmed) my world view.

Next, not sure.
May I recommend a book? A novel that was unlike anything I've ever read. I only ask you read the first chapter. If you don't fall completely in love with it, then...well...don't worry, you WILL fall completely in love with it!
The Picture of Dorian Gray by: Oscar Wilde
It was the last good book I read. It was on my bookshelf for a while and I finally decided to give it a go. Lets just say I was a character from the book for Halloween. (along with my sister) Do be sure to let me know what you think if you decide to pick it up!

I tried to read 'Choke' by Mr. Palahniuk. I was semi stoned while I was reading it but I had to put the thing down after about 30 pages in. It was so god damn negative and cynical. I guess it does have its own following but it just felt to 'ugly' for me. I was kind of mad at myself for putting it down but I couldn't help it. Maybe I should start off on one of his other books? (something to help ease into his style)

all you Dorian gray bashers can go to hell! I don't know why, but I fucking fell in love with that book.
I'm reading Red Dragon BY Thomas Harris (yes, the books withe Dr. Lector) His last book was fucking pitiful...but I read the reviews on this one and it seemed like it was quality. (not sure why I have such an urge to read a crime novel...this will be my 2nd) I'm about 100 pages in so far... and god damn! This shit is a well written, very believable book. I got that fully transported into the shoes of the main character almost instantly.

Just finished 'Metamorphosis' by: Franz Kafka This was my first book I've read by Kafka, so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. It was very interesting. I wanted him to explain things a bit more...but the book just ended. It was enjoyable but didn't fully click with me.
Another book I just finished was 'The Man who was Thursday' By: G.K. Chesterton
This book is now in my top 5 favorite books I've ever read. Not ONE dull point, funny, lots of action, great dialogue, twisting and turning plot. It doesn't get a whole lot better then this! He also has a very optimistic view on life, which is a very nice change.

The Forest People by: Colin M. Turnbull
Amazing ethnography (1st hand cultural study) on the life of Pygmies. You get transported into the Congo and follow the pygmies into the jungle. What I love so much about this is how much humor the book has...the Pygmies use humor for just about everything. Excellent book you want a refreshed view on culture, because theirs is a hell of a lot different than ours. Easy read that was damn fun to get through.

Just finished Dragons of Eden by Carl Sagan It's a nice survey over the origins of intelligence, and is filled with some mind-blowing insights and many random facts about the world.
I'm just about done with Stoner by John Williams
Ok...this is one of those books I just picked at random. I love doing that. I go into a bookstore or online and I pick a book I know NOTHING about. It adds a sense of mystery to the whole reading experience. hah...one of those weird things I do.
Anyway, the book is phenomenal. It reads very reserved and quite....and even the events that take place are not in themselves very interesting. He completely brings this world to life (university professor in the first half of the 20th century.) I know, it seems terribly boring, but what's shocked me is how damn entertaining it's been. Its evoked all my emotions like no book has in quite some time. True anger, complete laughter, sadness, excitement....
Its an easy read, and well worth it to anyone interested in sampling some damn good writing that doesn't bother itself with any extra literary fat.

I just finished On Writing by Steven King The information he gives is supper digested and is easy to soak in. Great book, no fat, entertaining and a damn good read.
I'm reading a few books right now...but one I picked up yesterday and was instantly sucked into:
Pathways to Bliss by Joseph Campbell Its one of those books that I connected with on a deeply personal level almost immediately. It's just brimming with beautiful information, connections, and wisdom. If you're at all interested in anthropology, mythology, or any of the social sciences...I would take a look at this book. Wonderful read (non-fiction)
Some other books I'm reading or just about to start : Sherlock Holmes by Sir Author Conan Doyle (I've got complete volume...so I'm picking up a story here and there.) Contact by Carl Sagan The Princess and the Goblin by George Macdonald Wu-Tang Manual by RZA (ok...maybe this doesn't belong on this list, but I really enjoy reading this.)
