The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall, member (co-founder?) of the Philosophical Research Society (PRS).
Not very far into yet. It is basically a big book on ancient symbolism with stories and theories about mythological characters like Hermes, Isis, Osiris, etc. Manly P. Hall is a high ranking Freemason (probably 33rd degree).

The Old Curiosity Shop - Charles Dickens
First book I've read by Dickens and I am really liking his style. It has some sort of weird quirk to it yet it maintains the professional feel that great writers seem to have.

The Hobbit
I've only read a few chapters so far, but I am already thinking that J.R.R. Tolkien is one of my favorite story tellers. The feeling of folklore mixed with good humor is a great combination.

I'm roughly a third into it and thus far it has been pretty smooth. I'm having a difficulty remembering the Russian names a bit but aside from that it is easy to get into. There have been a few pages of particular profundity that emerged from the overall superb writing but I imagine I have missed some things too. I look forward to reading 'The Brothers Karamazov' (sp?) at some point after.

I've read Oblivion, which is some short stories, and have been listening to his interviews about culture and non-spoiler reviews of Infinite Jest. At this point I feel acquiring my own copy of IJ is inevitable but damn that's going to be one long chew, not to mention the footnotes. I've read a lot of positive feedback about it, relating it to a work of art, writing it on his own deliberate terms, even about how the 'excess' of the text is a metaphor for the excess discussed in the book.

Only read a chapter so far. It discussed the importance of reading slowly, taking time to consider specific word usage, reminding one that a book or story is constructed of individual words linked one after another and that they are all quite important, especially in the hands of a skilled author.

Nice that you consider his thought to be a treat rather than a bitter medicine. I only asked because I feel that one is more likely to consider it an indulgence to read, say, popular fiction as opposed to a text that challenges your perceptions, lifestyle, etc.

I am only in the middle of the overview, which gives a explanation to how each chapter or part 'functions'. It is such a wonderous book.
