You're not wrong. Actively cycling a personal library of quality books in a P2P way does have its appeals to me, though.

Hell yeah- my kind of shelf, ChRnZN!

^Currently on these, among other bits.
I see how much of my life outlook as a kid/ teen was shaped from Calvin and Hobbes, it's hilariously existential, cynical and sarcastic. I love it. There's one in here, where Calvin goes neo-cubist because Dad tells him to look at things from another perspective so fucking good.
Anyone know some sort of irreverant cartoon-books in the vein of Farside and C&H that I might get a kick out of? Cheers!

^ Cool, let me know if you rate it please, Quantum- sounds like I might pick that up! (I've got this on the 'to buy' first, my Wilhlem edition REEKS of someones cigs from 1980's and I'm getting sick of the language/translation after blasting it a few years)

Spring is in the air
P.S, I LOVE this picture in "Mycocultural Revolution" check it out!

^My SO really rated that one, enjoy!
I'm still on that Hermetic Qabalah but also checking this out- taking my ideas about meditation back to basics.

Also started The Beginner's Guide to Runes: Divination and Magic with the Elder Futhark Runes by Josh Simonds
I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying them deff, divination is supremely interesting. That Rune one sounds cool as well. My GF rates 'Holistic Tarot' really highly- as was the case w/ '78 Degrees of Wisdom' I remember commenting when you started that (which I have now also been dipping into as a companion to the Tarot aspects of the Hermetic Qabalah which I'm still slowly digesting. I see firsthand why 78 degrees is so well liked!)
But as a side note: you reminded me Benebell Wens book on the I Ching JUST came out a month or so ago, that's DEFF next on the list for me, so exciting! Didn't consult the I Ching for over a month then recently took some time to hit up some of the deeper methods from Stephen Karchers 'Total I Ching' in a ritualised context with extremely interesting results. I'm still 'getting to the bottom of it' Peace out- thanks for the inadvertant reminder and, of course, happy reading to all.

^Never read 'The Cosmic Puppets' love some PKD! 'Salems Lot' is pretty fun too, enjoy if it's your first read.
Just dipped back into some shorts from this anthology, really enjoy short stories and these are varied & accessible scifi. But what I'm REALLY hyped about right now is: @deff

Amazing insight to so many aspects of the I Ching (from what I've read so far) and the version of the book of changes within is really comprehensive. Happy reading everyone!

Got a bunch on the go RN. Still on Benebel Wens 'I Ching:The Oracle' & Stephen Karchers 'Total I Ching'. Together with the OG Wilhelm these are blasting the I Ching wide open for me. A lot to work with and the sort of books that you gotta soak in loooong term.
First; 'Radical Mycology'- can't recommend this one enough! By FAR the most comprehensive book on fungi that I own/ have seen. The scope of it is massive, without being overbearing in style. Peter McCoy suggests reading it cover to cover first time around, which I'm doing, but flicking through it I can't wait to get my teeth into some of the later sections. Shroomery gets a shout out in the first few pages, I reckon the author 100% has an account on here.
Next 'Entangled Life'. For some reason I resisted the hype til a fellow shroomerite told me where I could pick this up local for ยฃ5. Dank. More of a "story book" than Radical Mycology, Merlin Sheldrake blends mycological teachings with enthralling excerpts of his field studies, philosophical musings about the Fungal Kingdom along with other related insights around botany, psychedelics, ecology and much more. Nearly done, really enjoying it. So easy to read and I even had the audiobook on for a bit tripping last night when my eyes said no to words. Merlins low drawl was pitched so low and slow that I had to check I was listening on 1X speed- still- revisiting the chapter on how roots, hyphae & bacteria coexist and evolve was taking me away.
Finally; 'Compassion in action' by Ram Dass & Mirabai Bush. As a massive Ram D fan, I was really dissapointed by his half of this (disjointed) book. Not to slam it too much but besides the same old, the stuff he decided to include felt weirdly braggy and uninspired by anything but himself. Everyone is human- in fact his willingness/ openness around being human first and foremost is, IMO, a big part of the appeal Ram Dass holds amidst many questionable figures exisiting on the intersection of spirituality and popular culture but this time...
Mirabai's section; which I would gladly have just gotten as a thinner, seperate book, is a lot more of what I anticipated overall. It's open and honest, with relatable accounts & insights around what including service in your life could look like for you- and what it looks like for her. It's inspirational & great food for though- worth checking out but don't get your hopes up for the first half. Phew, feel like I've just wrote a book of my own. Happy reading everyone!
