Just finished "The Spiritual Doorway in the Brain" by Kevin Nelson today. Plan on reading "The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories" by you know who as soon as I get my fuckin homework done. This will be my first time reading H.P. Lovecraft and I'm looking forward to it after reading Dagon. I think it's awesome how metal music can inspire you to check out certain authors. Bands like Portal have been heavily influenced by early 20th century horror.

Just finished 1984 by Orwell and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde. Now I'm reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Kensey. I've seen bits and pieces of the movie but I plan on watching the whole thing after I'm done with the book.
Next one on my list is The Plague by Albert Camus.

Finished Orphans of the Sky by Robert A. Heinlein last weekish. Just finished The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut today. Really digging scifi lately. I think I'll read one more and then switch back over to non fiction.
Anyone looking for something different, I'd recommend giving Daniel Quinn a quick search. A friend recommended Ishmael and then I went ahead to read The Story of B. Both of these novels pretty much discuss the same thing. The only difference is the protagonist. Ishmael is about a sentient gorilla, whereas B is about the Antichrist. Have I piqued your interest?

American Psycho takes a loooooong time to pick up. But when it does, it is quite gruesome. There's a part in the book.. about a puppy... holy shit I'll just leave that surprise to you

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
So far so good. Took me a while to get into the British humor.

I've always wanted to start the Wheel of Time series, but was intimidated by the volume of books. Avid readers take like 2 years or something to complete the whole thing.

I try to read two books a month. Kinda pushing myself to finish Life, The Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams. It's not long at all, but some parts are just hard to get through. Hitchhiker's was sorta the same in sections.
Going for Hyperion next, but the beginning looks rough. Supposed to be one of the best scifi books in "recent" years.

automan said: Man, i didn't really like Hyperion. I dig the creativity and some of the ideas introduced, but it just wasn't for me. It was to the point where I was like, "Fuck it... everyone loves it so I'll muscle through to the end... AND THEN IT ENDED ON A GOD DAMNED CLIFF HANGER SO I STILL DONT KNOW WTF HAPPENED." heh. I have no desire to read the rest of the series.

ManifoldPrime said: @automan, yes , it ends on a cliffhanger. Yes, its basically half a book. Read cantos. I didnt even skip a beat or read anything inbetween. It has a phenomenal ending.
So I'm just gonna buy Cantos. I stayed up late last night with a coffee and read a bit and now I'm all in.
