P. Caerulipes help for Michigan
    #6013637 - 08/30/06 09:32 PM (16 years, 9 months ago)

Just the other day I was off in the woods around the Huron River playing dsic-golf and stumbled upon what I was hoping to be a large cluster of p. Caerulipes.

Description:
Cap: ranging from 1/2 to 1'' in diameter  -golden brown and knobbed-
Gills: pitch black (maybe do to maturity in late August)
Stem: milky white and hollow
Substrate/ environment: mulch and dead/ decaying wood in a moist wooded environment near a river
Spore print: jet black (which is uncharacteristic of caerulipes or any psilo)
-Also, no evident bluing of the stem or cap due to handling
- the mushroom seems to liquify after aging awhile ?!?!?!?!?!?
I realize there have been many forums for help with this elusive psilo but any freindly help and advice I would much appreciate!

No pictures but I have recently moved back to campus and have access to a camera now and will be sure to use it for further psotings

Thanks!

Sounds like it fits the description for a Coprinus..  caerulipes will blue pretty unmistakably.

Nice description.
