Okay to Freeze and Boil San Pedro?
    #6012762 - 08/30/06 06:23 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I'm wondering if it's okay to freeze San Pedro after it's cut up and prior to blending up and boiling it down. Or would that maybe kill the effects by doing so much to it? I've personally frozen it and boiled it but never both. I've also heard accounts where people said it seemed like the freezing part actually helped the effects. Based on my experience, I dunno, maybe it did. Obviously it would need to be thawed well before being put in the blender. I just wouldn't want to put it through all kinds of stuff just to have it weaken it. Any thoughts?

They say it will help break down the cell walls for extraction. Not sure if it really makes a difference, but you will be fine freezing it. Make sure it's in a container you can salvage stuff from, because you'll end up with a bunch of syrup and crap that you really don't want to waste. tupperware might be a good idea.

Yeah, in the past I would just put the pieces in a ziploc storage bag. Then after dumping the pieces in the blender I'd put some water in the bag, swish it around and dump that in too. Tupperware would probably work even better though, you're right. So no problem freezing and boiling though, huh? Okay cool.

Plastic bag is probably fine. Maybe better since you could just tear it away if it gets stuck. Not sure how much the syrup would stick to tupperware when frozen.
