Feed Stores and Grainges are usually the cheapest source...

then you can find them in health food stores and in grocery stores that have bulk bins of grain.

No, rye berries don't have to be simmered.

there are many methods of making up Rye jars...

I have had pretty good luck with most of them.

I used to get away with just loading up my jars with Rye grain and water and pressure cooking them imediately.
Then one day that turned into a major cluster fuck on me!~
This was after a year of doing this method...with no contams.

Every jar contamed on me...probably due to endospores in the grains.

So now I soak all my grains really well before sterilizing them...
to kill off the endospores that might be in the grains.

If you use one of the simmer methods...
don't let your grains explode on you!~

i am overly paranoid to simmer because i have a cheap electric stove which has its own mind....so would it be ok to just RINSE ...soak them for 16hrs or so and then RINSE again...and then pressure cook?

goin down to whole foods and gona use my LINK CARD to get me some rye berries...thank you US GOV hahahaha
