The New Girl at Work *update*

So I'm putting away the tomatoes at work when I notice a very cute girl walk through the doors, and I'm checkin' out her perfect (P-E-R-F-E-C-T) ass until she disappears into grocery. I'm reminiscing with a fellow co-worker, and we're exclaiming how nice it was, and how pretty she is, etc..
So I walk into the break room later, and there she is taking the entrance exam for employment. A huge smile tears across my face and I go over and sit next to her. The first thing out of my mouth is, "You don't do drugs, you don't steal, and you'd rat anyone out if they stole, no matter what the cost. That's all you need to pass that test ;-)" She smiled and we talked a little bit, exchanged small talk and that was it.
Well she got the job and as I'm passing her register on my way to the dept. I'm like, "So ya passed the test!" smiled, and gave the geeky thumbs up, and she smiled and we had a little more small talk.
So yesterday, about a week after the previously mentioned events I walk over to her register and I ask her for her screen name. I know, I know, Screen name?!?, but my cell is off until I get my new credit card (lost my wallet at ozzfest) so I didn't want to sound like a loser without a cell phone, plus we still don't know each other well enough for phone talk, so I figured this was the route to go. I say, "You got a screen name?", she turns to me, her face lit up in a smile.
"Yeah..." continues bagging. "Can I get it?" "Uh..I'm a little...busy"
She was busy, she's still pretty new to register and had a few people in her line, but I didn't think that was an unreasonable request. So thinking on my feet and wanting her screen name, I chime in, "Aight I'll help you bag!" I have NO experience at the register, so I don't know what I'm doing. She's throwing some items my way and I'm bagging them up, and the customer's like, "Aww, he's such a gentleman."
So we finish bagging his stuff and she starts taking the next customers items. I go, "You forgetting something?" then she looks at her monitor all panicked and I'm like, "No your s/n."
"Oh...uh...(as she's scanning the items) well our internet isn't exactly hooked up yet, and uh...(scanning more items)...I'm a little busy.."
"Okay that's cool, I can talk to you another time. Later"
Now, the whole time she's smiling and not sounding annoyed by any means, just nervous or busy. Did I just completely wreck my chances with this girl or do you think she appreciates the effort put into that one? I still need a recovery line for when I see her next...I'm thinking, "So...is your phone hooked up yet?" Then an apology for bothering her last time. What do you think?

I've never heard of anyone asking for a s/n. Sounds a bit childish to me.
I don't think that was the right time/place for that either.
Try to catch her in a more appropriate environment and don't push her.

Yea bothering her as shes trying to do her job on the first day was definetly bad timing. and her response "internets not hooked up yet..."? Yea I'd have to say she's not into you. But maybe I'm wrong, good luck.

Yeah that was my big mistake. I mean I'm used to talking to people at their register...I do it all the time but she's not experienced enough for conversations and customers yet
Right now the screen name request seems childish, but that day it seemed like a good idea. I mean we didn't even know each other's names, so I figured going for the number would be too far. I mean I'd call her and be like, "Hi, uhhhh..." I want to establish a little bit more of a foundation first.
Am I just overthinking things or being stupid lol?

You'd rather know her SN than her real name? She definitely thinks you're a psycho.
Next time, sit back and think things out a little before you rush in. Your brain is in your head, not in your pants.

It's not over till it's over. I'm determined, I just have to find a way to push that incident aside or bring it right out the next time we talk. I'm not going to let one awkward moment ruin this shit.

If you didn't even know each others names asking for a screen name is just as bad. Why would she want to talk to some pushy guy on the internet if she doesn't even know you/talk to you in person. Why don't you just try and talk to her here and there while at work for awhile? But you may have already blown it because she knows you want to hook up with her now. I think you came off really desperate.

No i definitely got her name first, I establish all of that way b4 asking for her s/n. I mean we did have some small talk before I approached her for it, we're familiar with each other...I just...wasn't thinking lol. This is the first time I've stumbled over myself trying to get a girl.

I think I'm going to go in when she's working one night and just be like, "I don't know what I was thinking..." and just be honest about the phone thing, roll my eyes, and "start over". It can be done, I've seen it

Well, good luck. If you want, I'll come in there, chat her up and take her out to see if she's worth all this effort. Sort of a screening on your behalf. Yea, I'm that nice.
I'll need pictures first. Actually, the whole Shroomery needs pictures.

I think thats your best bet, try to come off more like you want to be friends than just hooking up so to speak. I think you can patch things up.

Maybe her screen name was like Cokewhorebabe_69 and she didn't want to say it in front of everyone.

I have no problem admitting my mistakes so I'm definitely going to do that. If she's still smiling after that (not fake) I'll ask her out to shoot some pool or something.
