How long ago was the french revolution? When was the last major revolution, in a major country? I think those days are over.

Gandhi kicking the British out of India was quite a revolution.

Events are cyclic, there were revolutions, and there will be.

It was, but the British were going to be leaving India soon, Gandhi or no Gandhi. I think he just sped up the process.

Also, that is a very different situation you are talking about. That is a foreign government imposing rule, not the domestic one.

I would have liked to see Gandhi overthrow the British government, in Britain.

Except that now, the powers that be are extremely technologically advanced, while we have guns and that's about it. We don't even have Kevlar. What are we gonna do?

If there's a revolution it will have to be a military coup.

While I see your point, I disagree. If this revolution were large enough, almost-all-encompassing of citizens, they would not kill us all, because then there would be none left to govern (except if they then tried to take over the world). Unlike many gov'ts, ours exists because we do, without us, our gov't fails.

And I agree, they'll turn on us if they have to to take over the world.

Getting a revolution to the point of being "almost-all-encompassing of citizens" is going to be the hard part.

The first ones to revolt will be jailed and labeled criminals, and the rest of the weak, T.V. nourished masses will go back indoors and watch more T.V.

If you need kevlar, you're going at it the wrong way

I don't think you have spent much time on thinking about revolution capability of the American people. The only thing the powers that be have, is successfully intimidated people into believing they are powerless. They did a good job on you too.
Wake up to the immense vulnerabilities of the powers that be.

The people can still elect the right people, and if the powers that be won't allow elections anymore thats an open declaration on the people as heard by the population and the UN.

At the moment the US population is moving away from the notion that they can trust their government and its intentions. This is a very visible process. All it needs are some catalyzing events, and the sheer inertia of the masses in motion will be enough to effect change.

The 1960s idea of revolution led by charismatic paramilitaries running around with big bundles of dynamite is a naive image that might work for some banana republics, but not for the US. It is very possible there won't be any confrontations where kevlar or firepower would be needed. Revolution can be entirely boring.

its already happening most of the people just don't know about it because they didn't show it on TV. and about how the world has too much technology u just have to tear it down from the bottom up you cant start at the top its too well defended but take out the bottom the top falls too...

And for the information of anyone who wishes to know what beats Kevlar in revolutionary rock paper scissors is a syringe full of air stops the heart its why cops hate crack heads because they are afraid.

Revolutions occur when the government loses touch with their own people. A revolution can easily occur in any country and it honestly doesnt take much. The best way to incur a revolution is to attack the basics of life of the civilians. Revolutions have to be populist in order to survive.

What we need imo, are several communities to go public, and as a whole community, govern themselves, and deny federal law, as its supposed to be.

A renegade state, within the states.

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

I dunno, California seems to be working towards some more sweeping changes. Seems to be a prime example of a state that can make some changes despite everyone else!

Just wanted to point out something to our American friends. You the people have ALL the power. You always have. When the time comes, you will overthrow your government in one giant swoop. Remember that when the truth comes out, there will be few willing to side with the government to defend them. Most people in uniform will join you, not resist you.

That's how it works for now anyway, however that type of shit is hardly sustainable in the long term. So whether it's a homegrown revolution, or arabs that bring it crumbling down, eventually it has to come crumbling down.

All empires eventually fall, always due to corruption.
