Why so small???

Pint cakes first flush very small and no veil to speak of really. Just a small bit of veil around edge of caps. No partial veil ring around stems either. Could the cake not be colonized enough? Please help if you have any ideas. I am well versed in fungus but I have never seen one without a veil. And so small. Thanks Here are links to the pics:

The cake looks dry. Moisture is pulled by gravity to the bottom of a substrate, so if there's not enough to go around, that's where the fruits form. Pick those fruits, then give a 24 hour dunk. That should fix it for the next flush. RR

I have just seen some non-bluing, hollow, small, no partial veil GTs myself. Pretty disappointing IME. I hope you have a better experience than I did! GL and keep us updated! -ghost
EDIT: I am curious where your spores originated from. PM me if you want to discuss further.

Spores101. I am not very impressed by any of the syringes I aquired from them. the first flush dry off that damn cake was .3g and when they were wet they were 3.5g. I dont usually mess with cakes. Now I know why. lol CASING IS THE BEST.

Typically I would imagine that spores are spores and anything beyond that is the cultivator's issue. I personally am not 100% confident in that statement. Maybe 98% but there is still a question of genetics -- right?
And poster ^^^ I asked what vendor. That is why he mentioned it. -ghost

I am not saying its all their fault for why the fruits are so small. but all the syringes I got from them, at best, only half of the jars I inoculated took off. Unlike when I stick to my usual vendor, microtech, out in vegas. Theirs always bang with spores. I am not talking down about spores101, they are good people. Just have had better experiences with my usual people.

Multispore and cakes are simplistic. Make an LC and some grain jars and you'll see what taking off is really about.
