a diffrent method of spore inoculation

also instead of using filter disks around the jar for injection...would it be sufficiant if i used sterial gause in place of the filter disks and trim the edges?
if not , are there any other materials i could use instead?

No, better off to use the metal lid, upside down with four
holes in it.
