I am a first time grower and have been having problems with my cakes. First, they will not pin inside the terrarium, only inside the jars. Furthermore only the mushrooms that pin in the jars will grow in the terrarium, no new pins will form after the cakes have been birthed. I am using the PF tek with brown rice flour and vermiculite, and my terrarium is set up with perlite. There seems to be enough humidity, there is alway condensation on the sides and top of the terrarium. I recently picked the mature mushrooms off of the cakes and now the remaining mushrooms are drying out and not growing. Is this a problem with the terrarium? tempature? perlite? gas exchange? I also thought that there would be more than one crop of mushrooms on each cake, but that may have been a misunderstanding. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

how can anyone tell you if your temps and humidity are wrong if you don't tell us what they are?

what strain?
how is your terrarium set up?
are your cakes dry? have you tried dunking???

there should be acouple flushes atleast as far as I know, hehe

I am using Psilocybe Cubensis and the terrarium is a fish tank with perlite on the bottom

Temperature- usually around 75-80

I don't know about humidity, there is always condensation on the sides and top of the terrarium.
The cakes dried out when I picked the first batch of mushrooms, so I put them directly on the perlite, but now they look waterlogged and nasty yellow color.
I don't know what dunking is.

The cakes should only soak up as much water as they can use, so I don't know about them being water logged

Stop by a cigar shop and for around $30-$40 they should have a hygrometer/thermometer to check that humidity

Read the FAQ for more info on the dunk tek, basiclly though, you put the cake in a jar of water for a night to rehydrate it
