Try this for relaxation. the music itself is a journey.

this one is better balanced whereas the one above has a lil too much bass. Both great though. check em out! http://www.archive.org/details/lotus2006-02-17.matrix

I'm considering starting meditation but it's difficult for me to find the time at the moment. Obiously since i've never meditated my opinion on meditation music is pretty much completely void, but i think it would be pretty cool to meditate to some natural sounds like rainfall/thunderstorms or the sound of the ocean. I found a couple of internet radio stations offering such sounds here - http://www.1club.fm/cfm/nature_sounds.htm
If i start i'll probably start doing it in silence first, but does anyone think this would be a good idea? Or simply a distraction?
Also i think it would be pretty cool listening to the ocean sound that a PS2 makes when you boot it up with no disc inside i can drift away for hours to that sound!

thanks for the link, and I believe silence is a great idea, whatever makes it easier for you. Nature sounds are great, silence is great also, just spark up some incense and focus on whatever works for you, weather that be your breathing or an image of buddha or jesus in your mind or some other figure, create your own unique technique, skys the limit.

As mention above, lotus is pretty cool.
Also I highly recommend a group called Vas.The album I like best is called Sunyata.
Also checkout the VA compilation called Floatation.Under interchill records. It is amazing!!!!!
Another good compilation is called Twelve. Its under TIP World.
I advise everyone checkout the last two I mentioned. And if you like southeastern asian/middle eastern music, then check out the first one I mentioned.
If you cannot find the albums I mentioned then send me a PM and I can hook you up.
I find music isn't helpful for very intense meditation, but for just lying in bed and clearing the bullshit from you after a stressful day,the right music can really enhance your awareness.

I like to lie down and listen to music.
If I am going to be truly meditating, then I would want silence or the sounds of the natural environment that I'm in, whether it's by the ocean or in some secluded nook with trees around.
Meditating in a cross legged position with music on seems like the wrong way to go. That is such an intense practice that you'd want to have all your energy focused on posture and breathing - not getting hyped up or down by music.
Just my opinion. Feel free to do what you like.

I'll make sure to send the cd out to you next week, then, as a birthday gift.

 Peace.
