Great night in south florida!! My first hunt!

I am pretty sure these are all mostly p. cubensis since I am quite familiar with them! I am from south florida and by the looks of it, the season is in full swing!!! Tell me what you think of the amount I have, the pictures are just of the amount i could fit in the tub, i still have half a bag full that i couldnt put in with the rest to show you. Let me know if you see any problems with these. I found them mostly on cow dung. I am pretty sure these are cubes, but let me know if you see any that you believe are not!
I am new to this so I am going to have to read about proper drying technique etc. This was a top experience in my life no doubt about it.
my aim is : llcliffll
send me a message if you want!

well tell me what you think of my first hunt!

space monster, what does that mean when you say one littel guy with no veil, does that mean this is not cubensis? Right now I am sorting them out. I have taken out 1-3 small ones that have white gills, they arent cubes correct?

you definitely have some non-actives in there, looks like a few lepiotas perhaps? you dont want to be eating those. if you look near the top right of the first photo, you'll spot at least 3 of them there, and again on the left side of your first pic i see two. notice how they don't have a purple veil around the stem, no gold/yellow colored cap, and the gill color is different? toss those out

Nice finds....of course check the bruising and spore prints to make sure, but from looking at the pics, you got a good haul of cubies.

thanks a lot everyone! It is sad that I have been in search of this great visionary fungus for so long, and it has been growing on the side of the roads i drive on everyday. They are so close, yet so far away, and that is the beauty of hunting .

Be very careful with your collection. You have a mixed collection. Most of them are Cubensis, but you also have what appear to be Lepiota's (and those could be potentially poisonous).
I've been finding Cubensis a lot lately, mostly in cow pastures, but today they were growing in a horse pasture. But barely any Copelandia yet for some odd reason.
But I've been finding Cubes so often this season that I'm not even collecting them anymore. All stocked up I guess. If I found Copelandia's I would collect them for sure.
Since I have legal permission to be in several cow pastures and a few horse pastures, I tend to just pass up most of the Cubensis. Sometimes I'll pick one just to smell the gills and check it out, but I just drop them and leave it behind, because it is rediculous for me, I do not even eat Cubensis anymore.
I could really go for some nice juicy Copelandia mushrooms tho.
But thanks for sharing your pictures Piracy. Keep on shroomin.
Just be very careful not to eat the wrong mushroom. And get those Lepiota's out of there for sure.

Hi, I went through some of your photos and circled any questionable mushrooms i saw. Not all of them may be, as i circled a few pins i was uncertain of.
Please be cautious and be certain that anything you eat bruises blue, has a purple/brown spore print(not possible with the pins) and that you are 100% positive they are P. cubensis.

Other than the questionable mushrooms....You should be very pleased with your first hunt. Most are not as successful as you have been the first time out. Congrats.
