Anyone ever have this problem with poo?
    #5991787 - 08/24/06 07:25 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

That the substrate added to the poo, will not colonize it? To the point where, it pushes the poo out of the way?????????

This is my second casing in a row!!!

It is Ten Sub product too.............

Hell yeah, Imagine waking up in the morning to find a heap of poo beside your casing. I'd leg it. :runaway:

I wonder if the Hpoo isn't at it's best? Have you had successful grows from the same Hpoo batch.

If it comes to that, I will later on in this thread.

It simply looks like, the balls of substrate have one again regained their prior fluffy whiteness, and it has no intention of spreading into the poo.

(like white cotton sitting on dirt)

I am having a similar problem. I think my HP was too dry, so I added more spawn and rehydrated it to feild capacity using a spray bottle. I've been warned this may risk contaming it but I've also heard HP is very contamn resistant. It's only been a day since the remixing so I'll try to give an update after several days...

I'm not saying that since its from a vendor its one hundred percent foolproof......what I am saying is that it comes from a reputable vendor and I did not make it myself.

without a picture, I cannot give an educated guess.
__

for instance, you could have it in a tray or trays and have them
wrapped in saran wrap or foil.
you're looking at them, so probably some clear wrap.
this would cause your problem if you didn't prepare the wrap properly.

do you have any gas exchange provisions?

you have to.
no way around it.

if you have it wrapped up tight, you are causing the problem.

the wrap or whatever,
whatever container it is in needs to have gas exchange provisions.

doesn't matter if it's the poly-fil in a monotub,
or the holes poked in the wrap covered in micropore in a tray,
or a patch of filter material in a hole in a bag,
or holes drilled with micropore covering them...

whatever it is, it needs to be there.

so did you hook that up or not?

The poo/substrate is currently incubating at room temp (internal temp 84 degrees)in glass baking pans (covered with tinfoil)

The top is covered with tinfoil. Holes are punched in the tinfoil. Then another sheet of tinfoil is loosely placed over that, for gas exchange..............

hmmmm.

how do you know the internal temp?

are they sitting on a flat surface?
or on something like a wire rack?

that drastically could affect your inner temps.

hmmmmm...

okay, sounds like you are doing things correct.

maybe bacteria was introduced at spawning.
maybe your strain doesn't like that poo.

I going to have to say that I don't know.
Someone smarter will have a suggestion, just wait a bit.
