no, no. I get these wax dissolving drops for a few days and then my mom (dr.) is going to flush my ear out with warm water. That would be really bad to lose permanent hearing in one ear. Its really as bad as losing an eye. Its very disorienting to hear everything in one ear. Its no longer stereo. It just involves alot of eye finding when noise come in.

Ok cool man, glad you're going to get it back. That must be a really weird experience. My hearing used to get all fucked up (kinda like water in the ear) off and on....esp. when i'd hear a loud noise, like a hammer hitting a crowbar. I attribute this to my wisdom teeth, becasue this happened after they were supposed to come 2-3 years ago, and it hasn't really happened since they've been out. Good luck with everything......it'll be interesting to see how this effects your other senses; you'll be relying on them more, so they may become stronger for a little while at least. Keep us posted.

Good luck with that man. I had a real bad ear infection once and lost all hearing in my left ear for about a week. Just like you said it gets difficult only hearing stuff out of one ear.

Since wax is sticky, the negative pressure needed to pull wax from the canal would have to be so powerful that it would rupture the eardrum in the process. However, candling produces no vacuum. Researchers who measured the pressure during candling of ear models found that no negative pressure was created. The same investigators candled eight ears and found that no ear wax was removed and candle wax was actually deposited in some of them!

Why Ear Candling Is Not A Good Idea

Sounds like complete bullshit to me.

Maybe it's an inner ear condition due to sinuses. I had good results with my home concoction of the agave/yucca plant.

I used to suffer from glue ear when i was a kid, my parents thought i was going deaf... i had to have these little plastic things called grommets implanted into my ears that break down the wax... the operation didnt hurt, they stay in there for a few years before they fall out by themselves. Some nasty shit though, after i had them put in melted earwax would drip from my ears like fucking egg yolks man, it was disgusting. Perfect hearing now though!

Shit man. Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago. I used to have those wax removal drops but this time I just held it in the shower stream and let it work its way out. Still took awhile and it sucks to constantly say "what?" Anyway, hope it goes away quickly.

I had something very similar happen to me last month. I went swimming at the lake and a few days later I started to rapidly lose my hearing due to that sudden wax build up thing. I didn't go to the doctor though, hoping that it would just clear up on it's own. Bad move because it got infected and it hurt like hell.

So I finally go to the doctor and the visit costs like $75 and the 2 prescriptions (oral antibiotics and ear drops) cost me over $200. The moral of the story, get it treated by a professional as early as possible to prevent pain both in your ear and in your wallet later on.

Why don't you just get the nurse to syringe it out? It only takes a few seconds, and it feels neat. I have had to do that a few times this year, but I have some other ear issues that I'm seeing the specialist about in a few weeks. I have been waiting for 5 months to see him and understand how irritating ear problems can be. I'm still not sure if my problem is from sinusitus or my TMJ, which can also cause ear problems.

I've probably put between 250-300 candles through each one of my ears in the past 3 years. I have NEVER had wax from the candles in my ears, and it is VERY easy to tell the difference between the candle wax and the crap that comes out of your ears and God knows where else. I used to think it was nonsense too until I woke up one day with my ear plugged and after trying everything to unplug it, I gave in and went and bought a pair. Needless to say, it unplugged about halfway through and we've been doing them ever since. I had to go to the hospital once to get my ear "unplugged" when I was 17. It took forever, it hurt like hell, and it cost $215.00. The government has raided stores where people have had signs that claimed, or verbally claimed that it helps you. But of course, weed makes you go crazy and entices black men to rape white women, Bush won fair and square both times, and ear candling is dangerous to your health.  :smirk: It's not for everyone, but our families are sold.

Peace
