    #5979789 - 08/19/06 11:11 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

Hello - we have been trying and trying for a long time . we finally have a what we think might be a pinhead, but there is a small green what looks like a string on the mushrooms, its either green or blue i cannot tell yet. but we have been trying for longer than i've seen anyone else on the board try for 2 months with little progress at all. they are a mexican strand...not sure how long it takes for them to pinhead but im sure these might be contaminated if it's been this long. im just wondering if its been so long and this might be a pinhead should we keep going? instrustions from pf tek have been followed throughout the whole process so i dont understand why so long and hardly any process. thanks for comments

oh ya plus they are fuzzy white, is that okay to be fuzzy white?

2 months isn't very long at all, I've been trying on and off for 7 years.

Your doing somethings wrong, with that fluffy growth, it looks like your humidity is too high ?

That pin-head looks like a mutation, have you been using Lysol?

On that bottom pick there looks like there may be some green mold...

I wouldn't be surprised if it begins to spray green spores everywhere in the next few days...

Well It looks like Trich with all those small little white balls...

But I say you wait a day or two, if it is Trich, those cakes will be very green soon enough..

If they are contaminated with Trich, be very careful, probably take that aquarium outside and then throw it all out. You DO NOT want any greenmold spores floating around your room, it will set you way back for future projects. GL

the growth on all my cakes are slow . also dose it matter if the fruiting room is warm or not ? because in Seattle WA, the weather is always fucked up you never know if it will rain , or if the sun might come out.

& if i do need to have my fruiting room warm what do you all use to keep it warm ?

Your fruiting chamber does NOT need to be heated, but what temps are we talking about?

Dude. Seattle is a mushroom growers paradise. It has one of the best climates in the entire world for mushroom cultivation. You rarely need heat or AC. When we need AC such as NOW, it's usually only for a couple of days at a time. I havn't heated my home in winter for the last five years. There is no need. The most that is needed is a small space heater in the room you incubate jars during January through March, but that's it.
