Possible Copelandia?
    #5979257 - 08/19/06 06:23 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat: Growing under some trees - very damp and muddy out of cow dung.
Stem: Off White Long and skinny (bruised a very dark blue/blackish)
Cap: Off white/beige with some bruising (looks almost dirt but its not dirt its some type of bruising)
Spore Print: Black
Gills: Very Dark Brown (Blackish/Brown)

I think it is possibly a Copelandia Cyanascens.  :stoned: :mushroom2:

It slightly bruised within the time I harvested it until the time we were in the car (10 mins max...slight squeeze). By the time I came here to post about it there is very bold and apparent bruising where it was handled. The stem was very fragile and snapped on one of them :frown:. I'm probably not going to even eat these because I'm really unsure if they're Copes. If I can get a picture to you guys tomm then I might.

They seem to match the descriptions I see. They resemble this photo: http://users.lycaeum.org/~cynase/pancy.jpg

Ugh wish I knew for sure.

They grow in your area, and the bruising on a blue meanie will be so dark it's almost black.
Do a search and familiarize yourself with Panaeolus antilarum sometimes, when you're hoping so much for blue that the spores on the cap and stem can look blue, but they're black.
Most importantly, search, there's lots of pics of both recently.

I just checked some pics of Panaeolus antilarum look like the gills aren't as dark.
