How far away is the nearest cow or horse? Even the largest city has horse facilities somewhat nearby. Ralphster and others rave about zoodoo, www.zoodoo.com I believe. Dr. Bluethumbs has compost which should work well, and should be a lot cheaper than the original shroomery source for premium compost dung brothers, found through thehawkseye.com Max, the canadian vendor said recently he will be selling horse shit I believe. So, yes you can order it, but it should be free if you put forth just a little effort to find it...

I never had good success with store bought compost. Actually never had any success with it. Some people have. I never used zoodoo, but ralphster would be glad to give you the details I'm sure.

if i remember correctly. store bought composted manure, contains little manure, and isnt usually the best thing to use to grow. zoodoo is kinda expensive too. if i were you. i would wait till you have had a week of dry weather, simply drive to the country, hop a fence with a bag, and some gloves, and pick up ever old dried paddie you see, you can usually fill a bag long before getting yelled at. hell, its just poop. mix it with some chopped straw and pasteurize. snap!

Dung is not a precious commodity. I mean come on, it falls from a horse?s ass for god?s sake. This is simple people. Look in your yellow pages under horse boarding/training, breeders, dealers and just start calling numbers. Tell them you have a small raised tomato bed that you want to fertilize. Tell them you just want to come out and fill a couple 5 gallon buckets and offer to pay them a couple bucks for there time. I doubt they take any money. No one is hoarding his or her horse poop, Around here anyway...........

Just to let ya know, I made a call said I needed the poo for my garden and they were MORE than happy to let me get some, they said to come back any time I wanted some, if people don't take it they have to find a way to get rid of it. So it is almost like your helping them out.

I have also been reading a few post's the past day or 2 that have had good things (not to mention good results) with Scott's 3 in 1 compost. Try a search on that if you can't find anything else! Might want to look at this too! Good luck!!

You could always put together a small compost bin.Put your kitchen scraps (Minus the meat) in it,yard waste, etc.
