Oh, I dunno. I don't think it's so mysterious. Sometimes we see things that we don't realize that we're seeing, and then for some reason, our mind suddenly focuses on what we saw however long ago, and because we don't remember having seen it, we think it's mysterious that suddenly we think of something that we think we haven't seen before.

If you have been in that cabinet before and seen something odd about the area where you found the vase, but because you were busy thinking about other things, you might not have become aware that you had noticed it. It's strange how our minds process information. Sometimes it can be delayed.
