I've read that a tub needs to be fanned several times a day. I'm never at home, so it's not really possible for me to fan that often. At most, probably 3-4 times a day. Is that enough? Do I even need that much fanning? Also, what are some alternatives to fanning? I thought about using an aquarium air pump to pump fresh air through a hepa filter into the fruiting chamber, but I'm not sure how to get stagnant air out. Two pumps?
If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you're using a monotub with polyfil-stuffed holes placed at the proper strategic locations, you won't need to fan nearly as much, if at all. You could add an aquarium pump if you like, but the FAE will take place on it's own thru the aforementioned holes pretty much on it's own. As long as you keep the temp within proper range, the monotub will create and maintain it's own climate.
If you're just using a tub, as long as you can fan/mist at least once a day, for about 10 minutes, you'll be fine. Again, add the aquarium heater if you wish, just create an openning for escape stuffed with polyfil or just covered with micropore tape, and remember that CO2 is heavier than fresh air so this openning will need to be very near the casing layer.
Peace.

Yes, frequent air exchanges are necessary for optimal results. An air pump can be used successfully; if you are growing with the PF Tek, do a search for the poor mans pod. Good luck.

Are you serious, you are supposed to fan for 10 minutes? I would think fanning vigourously with a large stiff piece of cardboard for about 30 seconds would be all you need.
It seems to me that doing this ~ twice a day would be adequate air exchange.
