Hi.. I'm totally worried that a friend may have sent me some shrooms in the mail (US Postal)--since they have my address. What should I do? Should I be worried/ Has anyone experienced this?

They can't prove that you expected them. Unless you paid for them and LEO has proof, there's nothing really they can do. You dont have any control over who sends you what in the mail.

Lot's of mail is randomly sniffed by drug detecting dogs. But they are trained to find heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and meth - I'm not sure that mushrooms are on their list. You're probably fine.

That would be cool if the dog ate the mail and started dancing.

You will most likely be fine. I am still unsure whether dogs can sniff mushrooms (ie are trained to) - noone has really proved it one way or the other.
But anyway - its called plausable deniability. Just say you have no idea who would send you mushrooms or why they would. I dont know but would this be enough to get a search warrant in the US? If your really worried about it make sure you dont have any thing illegal around. But as for getting done with for the mushrooms - it wont happen unless you spill the beans. If someone comes knocking on your door asking about them, just say you know nothing about it.
But anyways - thats very unlikely to happen.

Denying something like this would almost certainly not work. The fact that something illegal is addressed to you is enough for them to get a warrant if they wanted to. But, you're probably fine - mushrooms aren't exactly a priority compared to other drugs, WMDs etc..

Thats what plausable deniability is - the fact that something is addressed to you is not proof. It can be used as evidence, but its not very good evidence. Perhaps if you had been caught with mushroom convictions or a record the case wouldnt be so great. But if you stand up there in front of a jury, and say you have no idea who sent these mushrooms, they at least have to go with reasonable doubt, regarding a lack of evidence, even if they dont believe you. Otherwise Tom Cruise and his "religion" would be getting a few Afghani Hash bricks delivered, overnight express.
It probably is sufficient to get a warrant, although in america I dont know how things work.
