Over-nuted my Sally
    #5969082 - 08/16/06 10:37 AM (17 years, 5 months ago)

I guess i used a little to much N, her leaves have been curling and falling, not showing any new growth, she's just looking ragged.

So i'm going to take a cutting, move to a new pot of soil and wash the roots well.  Anyone know if there's something i can do besides that to 'balance' things out, adding lime etc?

Thanks :sun:

Repot, changing soil is a good idea...take a few cuttings( depending on size ) in case she doesn't make it...

The remedy used for MJ plants with N burn is to flush the soil with water, using 2 times the volume of the pot. Or flush the soil until the water that comes out the bottom is clear. That should take care of it. Washing off the roots will probably cause unneeded stress to the plant.

^^^What he said.Taking cuttings from an already over-fertilized plant will not fix the problem, as the N is still in the plant material.Flush with water

Overwatering is a common cause of death for MJ too, but only if it's prolonged. A good flush wouldn't be any worse than a torrential Central American downpour, but don't take my word for it since I have no experience with growing salvia.
