It will help to control the slime that builds up in the humidifier. I use a tablespoon of the 35% peroxide. If you use the 3 percent, makes sure to use enough to hear the bottle go 'glug-glug'. RR

Those are introduced at spawning. Molds are easily killed by boiling, so when you get them, it indicates improper inoculation procedures, or a wet/damp jar filter. Bear in mind, peroxide in the humidifier won't help with that. RR

ok im getting presterilized jars too from a vendor. last time all the air rushed into the jar before inoculating it. we were in the basement so go figure on the mold. next we will spray air with tons of lysol and ware fresh clothes, do this over a stove with vents, clean hands and jar etc.
what do u use as a filter on your jars?

Read your Lysol label. It is not made and does not work for air. Ozium.

Worst place I can think of to work. You want STILL air, not turbulent air. Open the holes up inside a glovebox. You can easily make one out of a cardboard box with two arm holes cut into it with a knife. It doesn't need to be sterile, just no air currents. You can also hold an alcohol soaked rag around the nail when you punch the hole so the air has to flow past the alcohol, killing 'most' of the contaminant spores. Spray oust, or even just a bleach/water solution inside the box to cause the contaminants inside to settle to the bottom.
I use synthetic filter disks. They're the best and longest lasting, in my opinion. I have some that are five years old and still work like new. They've been used and reused hundreds of times. RR
