    #5967906 - 08/15/06 10:35 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

hi evryone.

This is my first grow and i am experiencing a little trouble

I have 12 pf jars and most of them are 90-99 percent colonized. One is contaminated. Out of the 11 remaining, aorund nine have standing water in them. Its this a problem. the water can be seen trough the side of the jar. i left the lid on tehm open(had dry verm. on top) and the humdidty is still npt going away. WHat could i do to help. is it okay?

next, all the 11 jars have a cobweb mold only on top of the top vermiculite layer. When looked at trhought the glass part, the jars look healthy, its just that when i open the top, the top layer has what look lik eocbweb mosld. Is this okay, cuz the top layer oges off by brithing anayway?

any and all help would be appreiciated. thanks

its normal for some moisture to accumulate on the walls of the jar, shouldn't be a LOT so it depends what you mean "standing water"... im willing to wager what you're seeing is normal.

and i highly doubt you have cobweb at the top of your jars, that's just fluffy mycelium that poked through the verm layer lookin for more food to eat.  at any rate, scrape the verm layer off and throw it out when you're birthing.  again, i bet what you're seeing is normal and they'll turn out just fine for you
