Set Up Help
    #596676 - 04/02/02 03:02 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

Hey my friend is about to put her cakes into her terrarium but she is wondering if she should use bleach to sterilize the terrarium and she is also wondering if she should cook the perlite she is going to use in it since it has been siting in a shead for a few months...very germy, if so at what temp?

I always wipe my terrarium out with bleach between uses. After I wipe it I cover it losley with a piece of plastic film and let it sit to besure that the clorine has time to disipate.
If your perlite has been stored in a germy area I would suggest you either PC or boil it. I put mine in a large pot and stir it as it heats up. The boiling water will tend to build up a presure under the perlite, stiring releases this pressure. Be sure to let it cool, then add H2O and H2O2at 10 to 1. This will help prevent contam.

Peace,
Bob

All I do is wipe the inside of the chamber down with alcohol. It is not necassary to sterilize your perlite. I have accually used the same perlite for a while now, rinsing ocassionally
