I went to the guadalupe River this weekend. I woundered into the woods looking for fire wood. One piece i flipped over has some white stains that i was guessing was dried Mecy from some kinda local woodlover. Dose anybody know where woodlovers may be found in Texas?

wtf?
-------------------- I went to st thomas and camped out ontop of the island... Despite my entire family being poor all my life, the land is priceless. I was chased by haitians in the main city charlotte amalie when my girlfriend and I got some cocaine for free in a bar and mixed it with alcohol, to form a stronger drug. With such confidence at 2am, we walked the 4-5 or so miles down to the beach where the african slaves lie like lions waiting on tourist prey. The war isen't on drugs... the war is on the causes that influence people to abuse drugs. drug-abuse is a by-product of the system and much like radioactive waste occurs from utilizing nuclear power, drug addicts with drug-problems will need to be properly disposed of, like the decaying radioactive waste produced from nuclear energy. -i2ancid

In the woods.
We can't give specific locations here, so if that's what you were hoping for, it's not going to happen. Check out the forum rules.
The only active wood lover that is probably worth looking for in Texas are Gymnopilus.

It grows on wood. Please keep in mind that literally thousands of species of mushrooms are called 'woodlovers', which means nothing more than that the species live on wood. You are obviously interested in psychoative wood-loving mushrooms and eris just gave you a good pointer: look for a species called Gymnoplius spectabilis. Just google on that name and you'll know the characteristics you're going to have to look for. And don't forget: mushroom identification is not as easy as it sometimes seems and you'll have to accept that you wont't be able to ID a great many of your finds. You can always post here to get your finds ID-ed.

I back up what koraks just said and would add that some of the deadliest mushrooms around, specifically Galerinas, are wood lovers. So be careful. 99.9% of what you find growing on wood will not be psychoactive. And as others have said, you're in texas, go find some Psilocybe cubensis in the cattle pastures.

I will also add.... Gym.Spec. will not just jump out and say "HERE I AM" It took me a year to locate Gyms and I can hunt and ID mushrooms.. Here is a photo of the elusive Gym Spec.

Awww man no need to stand corrected.. I passed up hand fulls of these Gyms. Tell the day I figured I had done enough homework on them.. The one thing that discouraged me is the lack of good information on many Gymnopilus mushrooms. I hated to use my best judgment .. It was sketchy but once the facts stacked up and the comfort zone was there I had a wonderful time
