Light Question

Ok I've read and search ALOT and have gotten alot of contradictory articles pop up. I've read some grow logs where a guy had a fluorescent light on one side of his cased pf tek cake, and the shrooms DID grow alot more on that side. When he stated that noone contradicted it so I assume it was just "common knowledge". Yet I've read teks and other articles where they say you want to BLOCK all light from your crop.
Whats the differences? Pros? Cons? Does it even matter?

yes it matters.
not during colonization so much, but it does matter for pinning and for fruiting.
fungi are not plants and do not photosynthesize light.
colonize your jars/bags in light or dark, doesn't matter. keep your spawn run in darkness, keep your casing colonization (*if not using coir) in darkness. this is so you can introduce all pinning triggers at the same time.
expose to 12-16 hours of light per day once in fruiting mode.
there are more important factors to worry about than light. light is the easiest of them all. put a fluorescent light or whatever on a timer in the fruiting room.
*if using verm/coir as a casing, placing substrate into fruiting parameters directly after application of casing layer is usually the best course of action.

Any type of light will do I believe.... you need very little.
I just leave my terrariums in the corner of my room. The indirect light comming from the street works fine. Diffused(opaque or frosty looking lid to my terrarium) light seems to be very helpfull to my little friends.
