ok the only reason im talking about this is because of injuries.. what is your opinion on the whole idea of preseason games? who is at fault for the injuries, the league for having the games or the coaches for playing star players?
personally id like to see them scrap preseason games and add those 3-4 games to the actual season. make those games mean something.

THey only need 2 preseason games. Seeing people like Portis go down on the first preseason game of the year is bullshit. I don't think they need more regular season games, just less preseason ones.

Yeah. I dont see why NFL doesnt change this. EVERYONE agrees that 2 preseason games is better and that 4 is way too many.
Coaches, Players, Analysts...Everyone agrees except the NFL.

Owners don't agree.
Player contracts are written as 16 game checks.
They don't get paid for preseason activities. Not for training camp, mini-camp, not for any of the games.
This is one of the reasons players that have been designated a 'franchise player' often sit out.
They will only receive 16 game checks, for the 16 regular season games. No signing bonus, nothing guaranteed. You break your leg in the preseason, you get cut you get no money at all.
Owners get free labor for 4 games.

The preseason exists only to see if your third and fourth stringers have any reason to actually be on the team, the starters rarely play more than two drives.
Most guys don't get injured that bad, and the only reason they do is because they haven't been at 4realz in a while and they're a little rusty. I'm sure if it were a longer season, just as many guys would have minor injuries like Portis and the like early.

you really need to stop posting here.. so far you have no idea what your talking about.. yes nfl players get paid for preseason games, and yes they get paid for training camp.
owners like preseason because it still brings fans to the games and increases revenue.. a compromise would be 2 preseason games.. and the add 1-2 more games to the regular season.. same number of games, but 2 more with meaning to them
