I got 4 pf jars almost ready to go. Now, im not an expert but the last time i tryed to grow i went for casing and even thought it got contaminated at the end, the results wasnt that bad... since then its been a pretty long time, i moved country and its time now to give it another go. Last time i added brown rice Flour to my casing layer and i think thats the reason it got contaminated.
basicly, my question is if it will be ok to use only Vermiculite or Vermiculite and perlite for the casing layer (because thats all i have). and if sterilizing it in the microwave will be good enough
Cheers

you can use straight verm or verm /peat or many other combos. i would not add brf or perlite. i would also add a little calcium carbonate

If you sterilize with a PC your guarnteed no contamination, a pot, you're like 99.5% guarnteed unless. Microwave has been used very little with although from what I've seen with microwavable containers 11/12-10/12 jars usually can make it, so casing material should be okay in a microwave.
EDIT: Actually, I've heard vermiculite will melt plastic in a microwave. Use a stove or get a second opinion.

you are so wrong.
man, do not sterilize your casing if you can, pasteurize it. you can sterilize, but it will not even come close to being guaranteed of anything.
actually, even with a perfectly prepared casing layer, contams can set in after a couple of weeks.
correct pasteurization is what you are after for both casing material and bulk substrate material.
pm me if you want some liks to proven methods.
