Fair enough, from my personal experience it seems to do less good than bad. Whenever i take shots in direct sunlight over exposure occurs giving the subs a more bleached appearance. Here are pics of some of the nicest shrooms ive found, wrecked by over exposure :frown::

^ heavy over exposure

^ light over exposure (on the caps)

Also ive found over exposure degrades detail, a good example of this is the streaks on stems become less visible when over exposure is present.

Shots taken in indirect sun:

These shots have consistent colouring and i find im happier with them. Although the bad thing is if its too dark or shady, dodgy pixelation occurs which is just as bad as over exposure.

I went for a look around Ringwood/Blackburn over the last two days, and I have found next to nothing.. even after that small rainfall we got before the weekend.

Very disappointing this season. I'm gonna try Azures & Subs indoors over the next few weeks.

And thus another season passes. A rather unmemorable one at that. Hmmm.

It would seem a more reliable and reasonable plan.

This is for bluemeanie(just put 2 and 2 together saw you pic from Eltham years ago and have always thought bullshit please explain) I have just realised that your 2002 pic on EROWID(Eltham,Victoria)is incorrect, it is not Ps Subaeruginosa.I might be wrong but doubt it!!!  I have just seen that it has been edited and has been given a different description that was originally posted a few years ago.The new description is (Pluerocystidia hyaline ventricose-rostrate)what is that?I might sound like a dumb cunt but would like to know if there is a different species growing which I doubt that!!!!!.Any reply would be great.Just coz EROWID was my original site I got information from .So could that be mis-information for a hunter looking at pics?     I am not saying that I am correct just would like to know...................  :crazy2:

Hey dudes,

Do you think that there is any chance of the Melbourne season picking up after the rain we've had and going to have till the weekend. It's also going to be pretty cold during the nights but I'm not sure if the season can stop and start like this. Last time I checked my patch; which was in a mountain region, I had no luck. There was little fungus to be seen, none of the good stuff and it was quite dry for late July or early august(can't remember the exact date)

Any advice would be much loved.

This is the same mushroom picked - the stem was dark and it was quite unusual - i did think it was a gallerina or anotehr species but the ID was conclusive.

Blue meanie, cool it was a weird looking specimen but from the new picture once it was picked looks  more like a Sub..Did not mean to sound pigheaded . thanks for explaining that the (Pluerocystidia hyaline ventricose-rostrate) line was referring to the microscopice characteristics.Cheers matey

Referring to Infinite One post.I went down to my local patch just before sun down today and there was a couple of babies popping up.But as in huge patches fruiting up again I doubt it.If the rain persists it is possible to get a few depends on what area your patches are in(don't tell me).It is the warm spring day's with the sun beaming that is fuckin thing's up killing the mycelium. But there is a fuckin lot of rain needed.

I can assure you all that the season is not yet over, Im still finding 10 to 20 subs each time i go for a hunt in the dandanongs. So don't give up yet. They re just a little scarce this season just look harder.
