Well usually posts that complain about weather aren't allowed, but since you tried to post a pic, I would like to give you a chance to fix it.

You sure about that? Any rain we get out here is getting completely dried out with all the damn sunshine that keeps coming through!

Its all about getting the rains heavily while the ground is still relatively warm. That being said, you need heavy rain and a cold snap early in the season to drench the ground, and as its been a drought we needed more than normal. If we got lots of rain now it wouldnt work the same way, whereas in 2001 we got five solid days of rain in early April, then about 5 periods of 1/2 days rain during April/May. It was mushroom paradise!

Ok cool thanks for the information much appreciated,I am still interested in going to Sherbrooke Forest were it stays pretty damp most of the time and there are garden beds there that have plenty of mulch and horse or cow manure not sure.Which about a week ago they were still kicking but i will admit that they were not exactly fresh and were kinda dried out.Last year that same patch stayed around until late Sept early Oct and could pick usually round 40 to 60.But as you said we are in a drought and it will probally be dried out.

Damn. As a newbie hunter I thought I'd go looking soon, but alas it looks like next year I'll deflower my picking virginity.
Growing from spore stock (if I had it) wouldn't be too hard for me though as I've got a well maintained yeast farm for brewing. Hopefully I'll get some spores to try next year!

I realise I'm a noob, and don't fully understand the life cycle of fungi, but given we've had next to no rain since February until the last few days, is there a chance that we'll see the fruiting that never occurred earier this year?

Nice shots! I wish clusters and meaty specimens like those were rampant in S.A., unfortunately there virtually non existent.
What camera do you have? and if you can tell me some of its specs. Im always trying to get the money shot, an if you want to increase your influx of decent pics i can offer you a couple tips. If you took the 1st and 3rd snap a few cm back they would have turned out more in focus, (the closer you take the shot the more steady your hands need to be). Shots need plenty of light (midday) but the mushrooms shouldnt have direct sunlight on them (like your shots). Take 3-4 snaps, to increase chances of a better pic. Dont bother taking shots when its dark with your flash. Use your macro mode and auto-aim if you have them.

I don't agree with this. Sunlight, depending on what time of the day it is of course, can make a much better picture.
Afternoon or early morning sunlight shining on the subject, with the sun behind you when you take the photo is the key -
