Temps have been about 80ºF and these days a bit more (about 86)... should I go for it and spawn to some straw?

Yeah it looks good, no sign of contams
Except the dark orange crap that ransacked your jar.

The orange looks like myc piss, which would be normal for a 6 month old jar. Question is, what does it smell like when it's opened?
Old mycelium like that may or may not be able to grow well through a substrate, but it couldn't hurt to try.

I'm a bit worried about smelling it, but I have seen another micellium piss photos and they look similar.
It seems a bit more orange in the photo due to my camera... so I will try it and tell you.

Yea, I wouldn't smell until you're ready to spawn.
I've spawned old jars like that. Some had a fermented smell, there were no visible indicators. I spawned 'em anyway... colonization was slow to non-existaint.
