i had a dream lastnight where i came up with this tek for growing mushrooms. it was something like this.... get a big long and wide bakeable tray say 30inches by 20 inches wide..... only about 2 or 3 inches high though... basically a regular baking tray for like meatloaf and shit for the oven.then u fill this tray with just brown rice flour and vermiculite in the ratio same as pf cakes..... cover thetop with foil and throw it in the oven for a few hours to sterilize. then inoculating through the foil in afew different places like pf tek and letting the mycelium form in there. then when completely colonized just throw in the incubation chamber and let them fruit directly out of the tray.... this idea seems so simple and primitive so im suresomeone has tried it before, its basically pf tek but in a tray instead of jars. ne body know if it would work? why or why not? if it did work, would it even increase the yields as opposed to doing regular pf tek.ne tips and info would be greatly appreciated.

Baking it in the oven will throw your off your water content.

the chances of something that large made of brf and verm colonizing without it drying out or contaminating (or both) is slim to none... it would take a very long time to finish, and you'd have no way to monitor it in an opaque container.
if you'd like to have yourself a big tray full of colonized substrate, make a some regular cakes in jars, the correct way, then crumble them up into pieces when complete, then place the pieces in a tray, allowing a few days to recover and weave together into a solid block.
