Mycelium Temp.
    #595914 - 04/01/02 09:45 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

This is my first post and I am a bit of a newbie. I inoculated my jars made of verm and brown rice flour with b+ spores. Its beeen about 2 weeks and they are about half colonized. I don't think theres any contaminants except for one jar that I took out of the cooler. It seems like its taking a little too long. My temp isn't ideal because there isn't a heat source on it. There just in a cooler in an air conditioned house that stays about 75 most of the time. Should I place a light in my storage area where the cooler is. I know to not put light on the mycelium. I'm thinking the light will heat up the hole area just a little. Its in a space the size of a hamper thats built in to a house. My friend who is working with me on this project said to just leave it. But could it hurt to add a light to my area for heat?? Is there anything else I could do to speed it up???? (I think it has slowed in the past couple of days. The longer it sits the more I get paranoid from contams. Do you guys need a pick to help me out?? I also noticed condention on the walls where the mycelium is strong. Is this ok??

Build a simple incubator using a fish tank heater ($15 or less)
