Is it possible to safely inject water into an uncolonised cake that's too dry?

Have successfully followed the PF Tek through two batches, but when I made my third [two weeks ago] I let the jars / BRF cakes boil to too long, over 3 hours rather than 90 minutes. I thought nothing of it at the time, but made a note and then inoculated them [the next day, jars all cool]. So, two weeks later and a little bit of cloudiness in two of the five jars, but the remaining three look like nothing's happening. No con tams, but also no action, and my guess is that they're too dry.
I understand that patience is key, and have enough other projects on the go that this isn't something I need to screw up through desperation. However, is it advisable to inject a little sterile water into the cakes and then shake the jar?
Thanks in advance.

Shaking is going to mess up the verm layer, get it wet and mix it in. I usually get white spots in 5 days, so two weeks seems too long. Even if it is dry it would seem that the inoculation points would be wet enough to germinate. Your problem might be with your inoculant. Did you use a spore syringe or LC? If I were you I would start over or reinoculate. Maybe you don't have any more spores?

if i were you i would make a liquid culture and then inject that, it covers two birds with one stone. you give the cake moisture and also give it some mycelium.
to answer your question, you could inject sterile water or dunk, but i would advise liquid culture

Spore syringe, but have some liquid culture developing, and am taking a spore print today, so may watch for contams, make a new syringe and reinject.
