a question using spawn bags, and mono tube ??
    #5957910 - 08/12/06 11:08 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

ive got 6 large spawn bags showing growth right now. there are only 5 days old, and i have yet to mix them up to even out growth rate.
i plan to grow in a mono tub, and i have read somewhere that after i give it its first little mix i can place the bag in the tub i plan to grow in, so that they are all formed, and i dont have to crumble up the substrate to get it to be level in my tub. i wonder if i go ahead and do that then why not just leave the colonized bags right in the tub, and just cut off the tops of the bag when it is time to case. i know this will not allow the myc from each bag to form together, and become stronger, but is that really a big deal. the way im seeing it the bags are already of descent size, and it will cut out a lot of manhandling of the myc.

any thoughts??

If the bags are grain, you have to let them fully colonize before opening, or placing out of the bag into a tub. You can cut the top off the bag and use it for a tray after full colonization. Just apply the casing layer when the grains are fully colonized.

no no im sorry if i was incomplete in my intentions. yes i know to let them fully colonize before i open. i just wanted to know if anyone had any advice against just leaving them in the spawn bag with the tops cut off , and then cased in the mono tub. would the sides of the spawn bags keeping them from growing together be a big deal in the long run??

bags are horse poo/ WBS/ verm/ kelp/canola oil

Your asking if you can just put multiple spawn bags into one container, but not mixing them together and just leaving them in there origional bags right???

If so, then yes. It shouldn't hurt your yields or hinder your grow in any way.
