how much h2o

AFOAF IS ABOUT TO BIRTH HIS 6 CAKES(5B+ AND 1PR OR ECU HE FORGETS)
he was wondering how much water sbould he put in with his peralite. he is using a 30 gallon rubbermaid container for a terr with the top cut out with platic wrap over the hole. He has a fish pump for air but is woorying that the fresh continous air will lower hum so he might just fan what do u guys/gals think. any replies mucho gracias.

put about an inch of perlite down, and fill it up halfway with water,( you want a dry layer on top to act as a wick.)
if u want to use an air pump, get a timer.
