Actually a plant is a good idea in my opinion. Who says he's going to keep it in the car? He's not in the car 24/7, he has a home.
What if you got him wine and he turns out to be an alcoholic.
I see alcohol as one of those gifts you should only get not-so-close friends and people who invited you to their dinner parties. It's a little too personal for a driving instructor.

Coffee table books are just any large, hardcover book with lots of pictures. Like an art book or something.
You could also get a Zippo, cigarette case, or flask. Dartboards are cheap. Or some poker chips.

Thank you Lily. Besides, don't you think it's a little contradictory to give a DRIVING instructor ALCOHOL ? Maybe if you wanted him to be tanked, so he'd pass you....

You said a plant for the office, his office kinda is his car. Least that's where he works anyway. It's not a bad idea though, i know what you mean,, .
You might be right with the wine thing too but free booze is always good. Tis a safe option. Alcoholic driving instructor,,,,,,lol.
I apologise for my mix up in names severly !!!!, i just caught on now !!!!!
