Give me your recommendation for a file sharing prog

I am in the market for a good filesharing program. I would mainly use it for downloading music, but occasionly for videos as well. (I use Soulseek for more obscure music.)
There are several qualifications:
1) It must be freeware.
2) It must bring up tons of search results for the most common files. (In other words many people must be sharing files simultaneously).
3) It must bring up accurate search results. For example, when I enter "Phish" it should not bring up someone's family recipes. (This rules out Limewire).
4) Downloads must be reasonably fast.
5) It must contain no adware/spyware or as little as possible.
Do you have anything for me that fits the bill?
Note: Please feel free to critique other's recommendations if you know they don't meet my requirements given above.
Thanks.

I used Diet K which stripped out a good bit of the spyware. Unfortunately they have been nailed and are a pay service now as I understand it.

Well I already get torrents through Azureus and will continue to use it.
It's a bit tedious though hunting down each file individually. It's nice to have everything in front of you in one window.

I think DC++ comes closest to fitting your requirements, but as other people have said usenet and torrents are probably best.

How do you guys go about using usenet? I'm supposed to have a news server with my hosting provider but can't access it. Do any of you know of a public server with .binary newsgroups? What software do you use for the news?
Thanks in advance

Generally you have to pay for access to a fast news server with good retention. Disk space and (especially) bandwidth aren't free after all, but the prices are quite reasonable if you download a lot. I have the Giganews platinum package ($25) which I highly recommend. It also comes with a free Newsleecher registration which is the program you'd want to use for downloading, and that's a $35 value. Newshosting has unlimited accounts for $15/month, but their retention is around 45 days as opposed to 70 with Giganews. Their speeds are also slower. Giganews maxes out my connection at 1024Kbps, Newshosting would sometimes chug along at 400k - 500k during busy hours. Plus you'd need to pay for a Newsleecher registration yourself (or use an inferior but free alternative like Grabit).

As for a free filesharing program with no adware/spyware, I use Bearshare lite from time to time: http://www.bearshare.com/lite/

I have used Ares P2P for a long time. A few years perhaps. IMHO it is the best. I have never had an issue and find all the music and movies I need. I have used limewire, bearshare, morpheus, and several others that sucked throbbing uncircumsized member. YMMV
