found in my woods
    #5951188 - 08/10/06 04:58 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

i new to this n found this growing it looks pretty ridiculous

habitat- growing in soil under a basswood tree in prior lake Minnesota it was found in shade there were about 20 of them under the tree

cap- falt on the biggest sticky tacky feeling smooth looking with lots of brown dots very conetrated towards top of mushroom pale color but yet shimmers like silk the cap it self is tough smells like a mushroom not willing to taste it 4 cm tall 12 cm across

stalk- white silk looking 12 cm long 1.5 cm wide when pulled apart like string cheese sticky hard to rube feeling soft

veils-a very delicate bottom layer very easy to break covered with little brown ish red dots so Small almost look like rain drops membranes falls off after mushroom matures near the top of the stem slimy sort of

spores- couldn't figure out how to get it

It looks like an Agaricus. Check the rules thread for the link explaining how to make a spore print.

An interesting thought, Workman.

benods11, are the gills attached to the stem or completely free of it? Does the stem very easily separate from the cap?

Happy mushrooming!
