meditation weirdness
    #5948763 - 08/09/06 09:01 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

for the past few weeks, i have been meditating daily. my technique involves using mala to sort of get into a natural rhythm with my breathing and heartrate, focusing my attention inward. for some reason, the past two sessions, between 15 and 30 minutes in, i experienced a feeling of extreme vertigo, like i'm being rotated on every possible axis. being quite uncomfortable and disruptive, i stood up and both times noticed my entire field of vision kind of wagging back and forth, as if i were shaking my head "no" very widely. it then subsided oafter 5-10 minutes, but not before some serious anxiety over why this happens to me. any ideas/suggestions on what might be causing this or similar experiecnes?

Feelings such as these are normal at the point in the process when the hold of bodily awareness on the consciousness is loosened.

Do not let it disturb you. Continue with your meditation.

Yeah that's perfectly normal. My guess is it has something to do with the bloodflow in certain parts your brain. You're probably getting more oxygenated blood. It's a good thing.

Yes, you are doing something right. Meditiation is a trip, most people don't know it though.
